DC Releases Teaser for Swamp Thing Amidst Rumors of Cancelled Production

Everyone may be excited about Disney+, but last year saw DC launch their own streaming platform with the promise of original shows. Just in, we have our first look at the series Swamp Thing.

Here's the official description for the show:

SWAMP THING follows Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.

Oddly enough, this release of a new trailer comes after confirmation that the show had just had its production cancelled. The cancellation had been confirmed by actress Virginia Madsen (via a deleted IG post), and she had wrote: "I'm beyond sad. What a terrible decision. We have been cut to the core by those who have never set foot into the Swamp."

According to The GWW,Swamp Thing has now changed its plans to have a 13-episode season, and is now settling for 10. It's said that the showrunners are currently scrambling to write a new ending for the show. Nothing official has been said about the cancellation, but it's rumored that the shutting down of production was because DC Universe is trying to assess where it's headed in the future.

Based on the recent post, we should be expecting Swamp Thing to be available to watch come May 31 on DC Universe.
