James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad Eyeing John Cena For A Role

James Gunn had worked with pro-wrestler Dave Bautista for Guardians of the Galaxy, and now it looks like he's thinking about working with another WWE star when it comes to his next film, The Suicide Squad.

Just in, Variety is reporting that The Suicide Squad is looking at John Cena for a role in the movie. We don't really know who he's going to play yet, but I'm guessing he could be new character Peacemaker. Then again, his wrestler physique could easily be used for someone like King Shark who is also going to be in the film.

Besides Cena, the film is said to be bringing in Idris Elba who will be playing an undisclosed role. Some guess that he's going to be the Bronze Tiger, longtime Squad member and is also the second in command to Rick Flagg.

As for original actors returning, we have the likes of Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller). We don't know if they'll be involved in a minimal role this time around, but I'm hoping they'll be used better than what we got in the last film.

We don't know what to expect from this Suicide Squad yet, but hopefully, it succeeds enough to get a third movie with the return of Will Smith's Deadshot. Just crossing fingers here, but hopefully, the DCEU will make use of Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke as well.

James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is set to come out Aug. 6, 2021.
