Ben Affleck Reflects on Telling His Son That He's No Longer Batman

DCEU fans everywhere were heartbroken when Ben Affleck finally confirmed that he would not be Batman for Matt Reeves' upcoming The Batman, which is set to be a trilogy. Affleck played Bruce Wayne and his alter ego in both Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, along with a guest appearance in Suicide Squad. Well, Affleck had to tell his son that he's no longer Batman and fans are imagining how heartbreaking that would be for a kid.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Affleck said that his son seemed mostly okay with the decision. The actor felt that his son didn't understand him losing the directing role but once he brought up that it was someone else's turn, the youngin understood a bit more.

One major take away fans noticed from the interview is when Affleck said "I didn't love it enough," when it came to directing The Batman. This is pretty sad to hear since initial test footage with Batman taking on Deathstroke seemed promising, so it's sad that we won't be seeing that anytime soon. Fans can always pick up the graphic novel.

No one knows who will be replacing Affleck yet, though fans should find out soon. We're all hoping that it's good casting and he helps us forget about Affleck. Whether he will be a new Bruce Wayne or will be someone else under the cowl is still unknown.

The Batman comes out on June 25, 2021.
