RWBY fans can breathe a sigh of relief. That’s because the cast and crew revealed a promising new update for the future of the RWBY animated series.
With Rooster Teeth about to shut down its services in just a few weeks, key members of the show’s staff took part in a special livestream that served as a look back to the series’ decade-long run.
Thankfully for fans, it’s not a tearful goodbye, as the stream allayed their fears about the series potentially ending.
Fans Feared for RWBY’s Future Following Shutdown Announcement
In early March, animation fans around the world were shocked by the announcement that Rooster Teeth was shutting down.
Details were shared by Rooster Teeth general manager Jordan Levin. He mentioned that the company would close in the coming months and that the shutdown was decided due to many factors.
To start, Levin revealed that Rooster Teeth’s’ subscription service has dropped in terms of subscriber count. Levin also mentioned that the company has operated at a loss for over a decade.
The Rooster Teeth FIRST platform’s website and app are scheduled to shut down on May 15, 2024.
Given the impending shutdown, many fans were concerned about the future of the various Rooster Teeth productions, especially the mega-popular RWBY series.
Even with the series’ popularity, there has been no word on the future of the main series along with the other spinoff projects such as the SHAFT anime series. That was until the recent stream.

RWBY Team Shares Promising Update on the Show’s Future
During the recent RWBY livestream, Rooster Teeth Head of Licensing & Consumer Products Geoff Yetter revealed a promising update regarding plans for the show.
Yetter did not share specific details about what fans can expect, but he did say that fans don’t need to worry as “conversations are going very well to find RWBY a new home.”
He also said that he hopes to share new updates soon, especially as talks are going well.
While vague, his update is a promising one, as it means there’s a good chance that the RWBY animated series will continue the story of volume 9.

Will RWBY Continue and Get a Volume 10? Our Predictions
Given that Rooster Teeth is shutting down, RWBY volume 10 is officially not in production. Considering Yetter’s update though, there’s a good chance a new company acquires the property.
If this happens, fans may even get a proper volume 10, though for now, they’ll need to wait for an official announcement.
