X-Men '97 episode 7 titled Bright Eyes depicts that Mister Sinister's new boss is a much more ruthless villain than him.

Bastion was once known as Sebastion Gilberti before his hatred towards mutants transformed his sentinel DNA, which erased his prior memories. Now, all that's left of him is his vendetta against the mutants.

Due to this, he built the OZT (Operation: Zero Tolerance), used Bolivar Trask as a human experiment of his greatest plan to defeat mutants, and of course, held Magneto captive after orchestrating the mutant massacre in Genosha.

Upon the Beast discovering nanotechnology that is "light years ahead" of their present, as the episode's title implies, the Bright Eyes experiments Bastion has in store would threaten the X-Men's place in this world.

The X-Men would have to face not only the Prime Sentinels, the OZT strike force, and Mister Sinister, but they could potentially be coming up against Magneto, should Bastion take advantage of his hostage.
