The Big Door Prize Season 2 has finally begun streaming on Apple TV+, treating fans with a two-episode premiere after waiting almost a year following the first season’s conclusion.

This underrated gem has stunned viewers with its picturesque landscapes and backdrops, perfectly fitting each episode’s scenes. So, where was the second season filmed?

Like the first season, The Big Door Prize Season 2 was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia. The production began in January and wrapped in May 2023. Set in the fictional town of Deerfield, here are the locations where the show’s second season was filmed.

The series’ settings play a pivotal role in the story, given it revolves around a small town where a mysterious machine suddenly appears that seemingly predicts the residents’ “life potential.”

And with its mysterious tone, it’s hard to squeeze information from its cast and crew. But thankfully, showrunner and executive producer David West Read talked about the second season’s filming location.

“There are a lot of shows where, through the magic of CGI or whatever, you’re kind of making a pretend place,” he told Fox 5 Atlanta.

So, they used the real Main Street of Atlanta to have astonishing 360-degree views of the small Main Street.

This made them feel like doing an old-fashioned movie and let the residents come out to watch what they were doing.

Doing The Big Door Season 2 doesn’t just mean work for its cast. One of the major perks they get in filming in Metro Atlanta is enjoying its great outdoors during downtime.

For Gabrielle Dennis, who plays Cass, one of her favourite places in the town is BeltLine, where she stayed during the production.

“I was able to walk there and rent the scooters and the bikes and do the whole experience,” she said.

It’s the same place Ally Maki, who portrays Hana, loves. In fact, with the country’s numerous lovely sites, she wished she was in every city she was in.

“Just to be able to walk everywhere, get food, meet up with people … it was such a blast,” she added.

However, Josh Sagarra, who takes on the role of Giorgio, has a different thing in mind. If his co-stars love the spots, he likes the food much better.

“I dream about The Flying Biscuit. I dream about Jeni’s. And I dream about Fox Bros. [Bar-B-Q],” he revealed. “I go there all the time.”

But if there’s one thing that they hate about Atlanta, it’s the name of the streets there, which is pretty much confusing, though beautiful.

“We were staying off Peachtree Avenue right by Peachtree Place … and Peachtree Drive ... just at the end of Peachtree Lane,” the series’ lead star and Emmy winner Chris O’Dowd, who’s seen as Dusty, said.

The Big Door Prize Season 2’s first two episodes now stream on Apple TV+. New episodes come out every Wednesday.
