The Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss but I'm Not the Demon Lord anime is a fantasy isekai series. It may not be as hyped as shows such as Solo Leveling, but it did get a lot of interest from genre fans.
As with most isekai anime, this series is based on a light novel series of the same name, which was based on a web novel. The series also got a manga adaptation that began in February 2020.
Generally, the manga follows the story of the light novel series, though there are some key differences.
The most apparent is the character Alicia, who is quite different in the manga compared to her appearance in the light novel.
There’s no clear answer as to which version is better. Complicating things further is the fact that the anime also makes some noticeable changes from the light novel.
