WB Considering Replacing Will Smith After His Suicide Squad 2 Departure

Will Smith's Deadshot was probably one of the best things to come out of David Ayer's Suicide Squad, that's why a lot of fans were let down when it was reported that he won't be in James Gunn's sequel/reboot. Apparently, WB execs have been left with a tough decision—replace Smith, or have a new character take the place of Deadshot.

This comes from Variety's Justin Kroll:

Seeing that Smith had played the character so well in the film, a lot of people are hoping that WB just uses another character so that Smith still has a chance to return to future movies. Some think this is probably the time to reintroduce Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke, who was introduced in the post-credits scene of Justice League. We know that Manganiello was preparing like crazy for the role, and it must've been a blow when it was revealed that DC decided to change their plans for a shared universe.

For now, the only character we have confirmed from the original cast is Harley Quinn. It's said that James Gunn is going to be rebooting the whole roster, so we should expect a lot of new characters. If I had one more character to bring back though, it would be Jai Courtney's Captain Boomerang. I thought he looked amazing in the role, and I was kind of bummed that they didn't use him at his full potential in the last film.

James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is set for a release on Aug. 6, 2021.
