Todd Phillips on Why We Won't See a Joker Extended Cut

Joker has proven to be a divisive movie, though the Todd Phillips-directed film seems to have more supporters than haters. I think we can all agree that the concerns from this movie were a bit overblown, though they came from a good place due to all the shootings that have happened in North America. Well, if you wanted more of the R rated movie and are hoping for a Joker extended cut, Todd Phillips has sad news for you.

Why? Because Todd Phillips f*%king hates extended cuts of movies. No joke (ha) he literally said so in an interview with Collider. That's not a particularly hot take or anything since the director seems to be pretty confident in the final product he released but there are some benefits to extended cuts as Batman V Superman defenders will tell you.

Anyway, here's why Phillips mother f&%king hates extended cuts:

"I hate f**king extended cuts. I hate deleted scenes. They're deleted for a reason. The movie that exists is exactly the movie I want it to be and I will never show a deleted scene."

See? Not a controversial take at all but you have to wonder who pissed on Todd Phillips cereal. You could argue that he was annoyed by the media showing concern about the movie inspiring incels to shoot up schools but the director probably should have thought about that when he decided to make a movie about someone with mental illness becoming a criminal/vigilante.

Joker should still be showing in theaters.
