Joaquin Phoenix Is Gleefully Mad in New Joker Photo Announcing Worldwide Premiere

It looks like a few people will get the chance to see Joker ahead of everybody else. Todd Phillips has just announced that the highly anticipated DC Extended Universe flick will get its world premiere at the upcoming 76th Venice International Film Festival. To celebrate, the director shared a new image of Joaquin Phoenix in action.

Phillips made the announcement on his official Instagram account. Take a look at his post below.

"Honored and thrilled to be having our World Premiere at the 76th Venice International Film Festival and our North American premiere two weeks later at the Toronto Film Festival. Excited for everyone to finally get a look," Phillips wrote.

It was previously confirmed that Joker will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September. However, it is now expected to get an earlier premiere at the Venice International Film Festival this August. Needless to say, people already have high expectations for the DCEU movie.

Phillips had previously confirmed that Joker will be completely different from the character's comic origins.

"We didn't follow anything from the comic-books, which people are gonna be mad about… We just wrote our own version of where a guy like Joker might come from. That's what was interesting to me. We're not even doing Joker, but the story of becoming Joker. It's about this man," he told Empire.

It's an interesting take and one that people are already looking forward to. Needless to say, fans should be warned to expect the unexpected.

Joker is scheduled for release on October 4.
