The Suicide Squad Star Taika Waititi Teases Mystery Role In James Gunn Film

One of the best things about The Suicide Squad is undoubtedly Taika Waititi's involvement. However, we have yet to find out about the Thor: Love and Thunder director's mysterious role in the DC Extended Universe film. Luckily, Waititi has spoken up about the upcoming James Gunn movie and how the Guardians of the Galaxy director convinced him to join the cast.

Waititi recently spoke to Wired while promoting Jojo Rabbit. Not surprisingly, his new film was brought up. Although Waititi refused to share too many details about his character in The Suicide Squad, he did reveal that Gunn didn't have a hard time getting him onboard.

"We're mates and James said, 'Come and do this thing,'" Waititi confessed. He then went on to praise Gunn and state that he doesn't even know who will play who.

"James is brilliant, and it's just such a crazy big list of people. But I have no idea what any of them are doing," he said.

For now, we can be sure that Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, and Jai Courtney will reprise their roles as Harley Quinn, Amanda Waller, Rick Flag, and Captain Boomerang, respectively. It was also confirmed that new cast member Nathan Fillion will portray Arm-Fall-Off-Boy. Nevertheless, we're hoping to find out about Waititi's role really soon.

The Suicide Squad will also star Idris Elba, John Cena, Michael Rooker, Pete Davidson, Storm Reid, Sean Gunn, Alice Braga, David Dastmalchian, Peter Capaldi, Mayling Ng, Steve Agee, Joaquín Cosío, Juan Diego Botto, Tinashe Kajese, Julio Ruiz, and Jennifer Holland. The film is scheduled for release on August 6, 2021.
