A recent scoop has claimed that the upcoming Star Wars movie The Mandalorian and Grogu will begin filming earlier than expected.

Earlier this year, Lucasfilm announced the project as the next theatrical Star Wars movie to the surprise and excitement of many fans who have been looking forward to seeing Din Djarin and Grogu's next adventure.

It was also revealed recently that the film is officially set to release in theaters in 2026. Reports have also claimed that it will begin production in the summer of this year.

The Mandalorian and Grogu to Reportedly Begin Filming This May

A notable insider recently claimed that they heard from sources that The Mandalorian and Grogu filming date has been shifted as it is now set to roll its cameras this May.

It was previously reported that the film was slated to begin filming this June, but now it looks like it will happen sooner than expected.

"I can’t be specific. I don’t want to out any specific person, source or group involved with the production. I talked to two different cats, both believe that filming is actually going on in May for The Mandalorian and Grogu," the insider said.

"In May there will be filming done. I’m not saying it’s May 1st, I’m not saying it’s May 31st, but it’s somewhere in there that things will be filmed for that specific movie."

Regarding the past report regarding the June date, the insider clarified, "That was probably the initial start, the if we don’t meet our milestones start date. But it sounds like things are going swell is how it sounds. So we might have a Star Wars movie filming in the next couple of days so-to-speak – within the next month."

So far, Lucasfilm has not confirmed the claims that were made in the report.

If the scoop ends up being true, it is an exciting news for fans since it is another assurance that the film is officially happening and it is a sign that Lucasfilm is indeed taking the project seriously.

This is also an indication that Jon Favreau and his team are deep into pre-production. It's now just a matter of time before they can begin shooting and we can officially say that a Star Wars movie is coming in the future.

We should be hearing some news and updates about the film's production very soon as we could possibly get some confirmation once it commences.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is slated for release in theaters on May 22, 2026.
