Jonathan Nolan, the co-writer of The Dark Knight trilogy, recently expressed his interest in revisiting the franchise and doing a fourth movie.

For years, the Christopher Nolan-directed trilogy has been beloved by my fans with the second film considered to be one of the best comic book movies of all time and changed the genre forever.

While the people involved in the trilogy have seemingly moved on from the franchise, some fans are still wondering whether they will revisit that Batman universe once again in the future.

In a recent interview, Jonathan Nolan was asked whether he is open to doing another Dark Knight movie.

He said that he is down to do a fourth installment as he had a wonderful experience making the trilogy.

"Wouldn’t that be a dream? That period was 10 years of my life [from] when I got the call to work on Batman Begins, and it was epic," Nolan responded.

"Working with Christian [Bale], Heath [Ledger], Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and to honor an American icon. If I had the chance to go back and work on that again? Absolutely."

Nolan also added that doing a fourth movie might be unlikely since they have moved on to other projects and the studio has moved on to a new incarnation of the Batman franchise.

"We’ve moved onto other things. And, of course, other people have picked up the mantel and moved on with those characters," he said.

There is no doubt that a lot of fans would be happy if The Dark Knight franchise gets revisited with a fourth movie with Christian Bale back as the Caped Crusader.

However, as Jonathan also pointed out, it is highly unlikely to happen at this point since Christopher Nolan is also not open to revisiting the franchise and is now more focused on other original projects such as the Oscar Best Picture winner Oppenheimer.

Warner Bros. and DC Studios are now working on Matt Reeves' The Batman franchise with a sequel and spinoff shows in the works while the DCU will introduce their own version of Batman in The Brave and the Bold.
