The Acolyte showrunner Leslye Headland teased the Jedi mystery that they are brewing for the upcoming Star Wars series.

A few weeks ago, the first trailer for the highly-anticipated series was finally unveiled and it gave fans a very first glimpse at the first major Star Wars project that is set in the High Republic era.

Leading up to its release, the people involved in The Acolyte have teased that it will be different from the other Star Wars live-action series since it is also shedding light more on the Sith.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, where the series is featured on the cover of its latest issue, Headland opened up about her take on the Jedi Order in The Acolyte.

"I was very interested in, how did the Jedi get to where they are in Phantom Menace? You’re definitely getting a sense that, with the Jedi, the writing may be on the wall," she said.

She also explained that the series will be more character-driven even with the large ensemble in the cast, "The quote-unquote ‘war’ of this Star Wars is a much smaller, more personal one. The war between people, the war between characters."

Headland also teased how the storyline of the series is designed as a mystery thriller with a detective story that will unravel and make the fans keep on guessing.

"It’s one story with several reveals, and new clues and new information each episode. It’s not just a mystery that you have to find out. It’s not unlike Russian Doll. It’s almost like a spiral — it digs deeper and deeper and deeper," she said.

Lee Jung-jae, who plays Jedi Master Sol, added, "It’s going to get even more intriguing and gripping, because of that detective genre. It’s going to keep you on the edge of your toes, wanting to guess."

It is an exciting tease for the series since it shows us that it will be a different experience for fans compared to the other Star Wars shows that we've seen in the past.

There's certainly a lot of intrigue for the series given the number of new characters and unfamiliar settings that we will encounter and hopefully, it will deliver what fans wanted with all the hype that it's been getting.

The Acolyte is set to premiere with two episodes this June 4 on Disney+.
