It looks like Swamp Thing will be creeping into your screens much sooner than expected. The highly anticipated DC Universe series has just been given an official release date along with the second season of Young Justice: Outsiders.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the shows' release dates were announced at WonderCon in Anaheim. Swamp Thing will finally premiere on May 31st while Young Justice: Outsiders will return on July 2nd.

Swamp Thing will star Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, a CDC doctor who goes back home to Houma, Louisiana to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. Abby immediately bonds with scientist Alec Holland (Andy Bean) but discovers that the swamp holds greater mysteries than she initially expected.

Although Bean will portray Alec, the creature itself will be played by Derek Mears. Mears is known for his role as Jason Voorhees in the Friday the 13th reboot and has played one of the aliens in Predators. Needless to say, Swamp Thing will be a truly imposing presence this May.

Meanwhile, the next 13 episodes of Young Justice: Outsiders could mean more trouble for the heroes. In the previous season finale, Tara had finally assumed the name Terra and was last seen telling Deathstroke that she's in.

Swamp Thing and Young Justice: Outsiders Season 2 are not the only shows that will air on DC Universe this year. It was also confirmed that the second season of Titans will premiere this fall. The series will then be followed by Kaley Cuoco's Harley Quinn animated series.

Swamp Thing premieres on DC Universe on May 31. Young Justice: Outsiders Season 2 will air on July 2.
