After Skip and Loafer, P.A. Works didn’t announce its next anime project. Finally, P.A. Works revealed that it is working on a new anime series titled Nanare Hananare.

This new original anime was announced earlier today. Unlike many new anime reveals, this announcement came with a teaser trailer that showed the series’ unique art style and animation.

Along with the trailer, the studio also shared a key visual for the show, as well as some of the veteran staff members who are working on it.

P.A. Works is a notable anime studio that has produced lots of popular titles over the years. The studio gained renown in 2010 with the release of the fantasy anime Angel Beats! This was followed by the horror series, Another.

Since then, P.A. Works has continued to create adaptations of popular works, including Charlotte, Ya Boy Kongming!, and Skip and Loafer, among others.

To complement these, the studio has also created many original shows such as Shirobako, Buddy Daddies, and Akiba Maid War.

Now, P.A. Works revealed its next original anime titled Nanare Hananare. The reveal came with a teaser visual featuring the main character as well as its Gunma Prefecture setting.

There’s not a lot of info about the series yet, but, interestingly, the series is set in a prefecture that’s not particularly popular among non-Japanese fans. After all, most anime shows are set in Tokyo or surrounding prefectures.

This series may be partnering with Gunma Prefecture to promote tourism. After all, anime such as Insomniacs After School and Belle have done similar promotional campaigns with lesser-known prefectures.

P.A. Works did reveal some details about the anime’s premise. This series will have a coming-of-age story that follows six high school girls with different personalities and hobbies. Of the six, only one has been shown so far.

What has been announced is the show’s staff. Handling directing duties is Koudai Kakimoto, an anime director who worked on shows like BanG! Dream.

Kakimoto is joined by Tomomi Takada who is working on the character designs and Kanami Sekiguchi who is designing the character animations.

Nanare Hananare is set to release sometime in 2024. Before this, anime fans can look forward to Komada - A Whisky Family, the original anime film by P.A. Works that will be released in Japan tomorrow.
