Reiji Miyajima’s Rent-A-Girlfriend has already gotten three anime seasons. Now, his other ongoing series The Shiunji Family Children has confirmed its anime adaptation is in the works.
The anime was announced recently with a special illustration drawn by Miyajima. There may not be much info revealed yet, but the announcement should no doubt excite fans of his work.
On the flip side, those who aren’t big fans of Rent-A-Girlfriend likely won’t be convinced, as Miyajima’s other manga is just as divisive.
Reiji Miyajima’s Other Ongoing Manga Is Just as Infamous as Rent-A-Girlfriend
It’s fair to say that Rent-A-Girlfriend is a big success. Aside from getting three anime seasons, the manga continues to be a big hit, especially in Japan.
Thus, it was unexpected when Miyajima launched another manga in early 2022.
Titled The Shiunji Family Children, this manga is released bi-weekly in Young Animal magazine. Despite having “family” in its title, this series is far from a family-friendly series.
That’s because its story follows Arata Shiunji, a young man who lives with five sisters and a younger brother. Arata is almost ready to resign himself to being single for the rest of his life as he has yet to get a girlfriend.
Soon, his father reveals to them that Arata and his siblings are not related by blood. Yes, this manga is a harem series.
The fact that they’re not blood-related means it’s not as contentious as something like Kiss x Sis or Oreimo, but it’s still quite a divisive story.
In that sense, this is a Reiji Miyajima manga through and through. After all, Rent-A-Girlfriend is a divisive series, with many considering it incredibly cringeworthy and hard to read or watch.

The Shiunji Family Children Anime Announced with New Visual
It might not be for everyone, but The Shiunji Family Children has become popular enough that it will get an anime adaptation.
The anime was announced with a new artwork drawn by Miyajima featuring the main character Arata alongside his siblings who are also potential romantic partners.
Unlike other anime announcements which come with a proper key visual or a trailer, this illustration is the only new piece shared for the upcoming anime.
For now, there’s no word yet on when the anime will be released. There’s also no word yet on the studio that’s working on it as well as its cast.
In the meantime, fans of Miyajima’s work who can’t wait for the anime can read the manga, which is published by Yen Press in North America.
