Yamato tells Momonosuke more about his talk with Ace, Oden's journal, and the things he learned about Gol D. Roger. While Yamato and Ace are talking, Ace accidentally tells Yamato about Luffy's dream — to become the King of the Pirates.
Ace tells Yamato not to laugh since it may sound ridiculous to others. However, Yamato was surprised to hear that Luffy and Roger share the exact same dream.
He sees the similarities between Luffy and Roger, making him admire Luffy even more. After their long talk, Yamato gives Ace his Vivre Card before he leaves and says they will meet again.
However, they never met again since Ace died during the Marineford Arc. Knowing about Roger, Oden, and Whitebeard's thoughts on the next generation of pirates and Ace's stories, Yamato opted to wait for Luffy to arrive in Wano.
Some members of the Worst Generation — Captain Kid, Killer, Law, and Zoro — finally reach the rooftop to fight Kaido and Big Mom. Luffy eventually catches up but doesn't acknowledge the Emperors of the Sea immediately and goes straight to Kinemon and the Akazaya Nine.
Luffy apologizes to Kinemon for being late. An emotional and gravely injured Kinemon asks for Luffy's help in saving Wano.
Of course, Luffy agrees. The much-awaited fight begins as Kaido tries to hit Luffy, but the latter fights back with Red Roc, successfully landing a blow.

One Piece Episode 1,016 will be out on Sunday, May 8, 2022. In North America, the episode will be out on Saturday, May 7.
The episode that will air on Sunday, May 1, will be a filler episode titled "A Special Episode to Admire Zoro-senpai and Sanji-senpai! Barto's Secret Room 2!".
