This may come as a surprise to many fans, but the Noragami manga recently confirmed that it is ending soon after a nearly 13-year run.
The news comes as a surprise to some anime-only fans, especially as they may not realize that the manga source material is still ongoing.
Noragami: A Hit Supernatural Series
It’s fair to say that many anime fans know Noragami for its two-season anime adaptation by studio Bones (of Mob Psycho 100 and Fullmetal Alchemist fame).
At the time, the anime became a big hit for its interesting supernatural premise.
While the first season was only 12 episodes long, the anime was quickly renewed for a second season entitled Noragami Aragoto, which aired from October to December 2015.
Again, this second season proved to be quite a hit. Though since then, the anime has yet to be renewed for a third season, with a likely reason being the manga’s monthly release schedule.
While many popular manga titles like Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia have weekly release schedules, Noragami is a shonen title that’s released monthly in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine.
Given this monthly release schedule, there wasn’t enough source material for the anime to continue with Season 3, unless the anime takes liberties with how the story continues, though that usually doesn’t go well.
With the manga now getting a proper ending, there’s hope that the anime will get a proper conclusion.
After all, some shows like The Devil Is a Part-Timer! and Spice & Wolf got new seasons years after they last aired.

Noragami Manga Ending Date
The Noragami manga’s ending was revealed recently in the title’s 26th volume, which was released recently in Japan.
There, it was revealed that the manga will end in Volume 27, which is set to release later this year.
Noragami’s upcoming end was also shared on the official Monthly Shonen Magazine's Twitter account.
There, fans expressed how sad they are that the manga is ending after running for over a decade.
While it’s confirmed that the Noragami manga will end in the 27th volume, there’s no exact ending date yet. However, the ending is expected to happen late in 2023, possibly in the fourth quarter.
The ending may come as a surprise to anime fans, but manga readers have probably expected this to happen at some point soon because the manga entered its final arc in the middle of last year.
