Ninja Kamui is marketed as an explosive original story of revenge and payback with a modern twist on ninja fiction. It is an upcoming anime series on Adult Swim’s Toonami block, and I’m very honored to see its first two episodes in advance. Here's my review of Ninja Kamui Episodes 1 and 2.

Ninja Kamui Episodes 1 and 2 Promise a Riveting and Action-Packed Revenge Story

I’m not a huge fan of ninja-themed anime series, and I can easily count on my fingers just how many of these shows (most of them romantic) I have seen in my life.

Still, I’m invested in characters dead-set in exacting revenge against those who wronged them.

I understand that the concept of retribution is not new, and we've seen it millions of times, but Ninja Kamui deserves credit for elevating such an exhausted theme to new heights with unique and modern execution.

With Ninja Kamui’s trailers alone, anime fans, including myself, will look at this and say that it's “peak ninja action."

Don't even get me started on the first two episodes of this jaw-dropping anime, which caught me off guard and threw me on an emotional roller coaster, causing me to unexpectedly shed a tear or two.

The pilot episode felt like the finale of a single cour anime with its astounding production values, as expected of Sung Hoo Park, who’s widely regarded for his work on Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1.

An unsettling atmosphere welcomed me into the series, compelling me to learn more about the mysterious characters who began to attack and kill each other for whatever reason, setting the show's dark tone and mood.

What makes me more invested is the amount of time and effort the production team puts into producing such flawless animation, wide-angle shots, and superb camera direction, in addition to its solid and over-the-top fighting sequences that are not hard to follow.

The action goes faster and harder than the first one and is still unpredictable!

Certainly, Ninja Kamui is one of those anime series that simply demands one’s full attention right from the start and doesn’t let go.

It is incredibly compelling, and it doesn’t waste any time in telling the main character’s story.

I already like the main character and how human and raw he is. They did a very good job of expressing his emotions to the extent that you can feel and relate to them as well. I seriously can’t wait to see him transform as the plot unfolds.

There’s a lot of blood in the series, so be warned. It doesn’t bother me that much, but some people might find it difficult to watch at times since it doesn’t pull any punches in the violence and gore department.

The music used in Ninja Kamui did not disappoint as well. It made the watching experience more immersive and emotional, pulling you into the characters and their story as a whole.

I’m looking forward to the succeeding episodes of Ninja Kamui, and I’m hoping that it will stick with the landing and not go off the rails.
