Military Officials Says There’s A Credible Threat Of Mass Shooting During Joker Premiere

It looks like the controversy surrounding Todd Phillip's Joker movie just keeps ballooning. Earlier this week, word came out that DC fans were banned from attending screenings of the movie wearing costumes and masks. Then families of the victims of The Dark Knight Aurora shooting sent Warner Brothers a letter expressing their concern about the film.

While most of the claims of shootings at Joker screenings seem like propaganda made against the film, a new report reveals that the US military is actually aware of at least one "credible" threat tied to the premiere of the movie next week.

According to ComicBook.com, Fort Sills Army military officials just recently released a statement based on intelligence that was gathered by the FBI saying that a major movie theater had actually been threatened with a mass shooting event.

The statement says that the FBI picked up "disturbing and very specific" discussions of alleged extremists working on the dark web, all of which are focused on the Joker's opening weekend next week.

"Commanders need to be aware of this threat for Soldier and family safety and to increase situational awareness should they choose to attend the release of this movie at a local theater," reads the memorandum that ABC affiliate state KSWO-TV obtained.

This is pretty terrible news. Though the Joker centers around a mentally disturbed individual, we don't really think that Joker supports Arthur Fleck's (Joaquin Phoenix) actions. There's been a lot of fear that the film might promote violence among its viewers, that's for sure.
