Delays have been pretty much the big story of Winter 23, and now, it seems that it has extended to the next season. Recently, Masamune-kun’s Revenge R announced that the upcoming season has been delayed to Summer 23.
Despite its rather confusing title, Revenge R is the second season of the Masamune-kun anime that aired back in 2017.
While the wait has been long, it’s about to get even longer, though at least only by three months.
Delayed Upcoming Spring Anime
While Winter 23 was rocked with several anime delays, even some Spring 23 shows were affected.
Among them is Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence, an anime that was supposed to premiere in April but was moved to July.
The same thing happened to Masamune-kun’s Revenge R, as its first episode was also moved to July 2023.
As you may have expected, this delay is once again due to the spread of COVID-19 among staff members.
Before these Spring shows were postponed, several Winter 23 anime initially got delayed.
First up was NieR: Automata Ver1.1a, which was quickly followed by Ayakashi Triangle.
Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible was the next to be affected, and it’s among the worst hit as it will only return in April when it will be rebroadcasted beginning with Episode 1.
Winter 23 anime being delayed made sense as many shows outsource animation work to China, which was affected by a large COVID surge.
However, it may have resulted in production companies rethinking their strategy.

Masamune-kun's Revenge Season 2 New Release Date
It has been years now since the first season ended, though the second season was only revealed in early 2022.
Given the lengthy gap and its April 1 announcement, many fans thought that it was an April Fool’s prank.
However, it turned out that Season 2 was indeed real and that it was set to premiere in April 2023 – one year after its original announcement.
Sadly, it’s one of the shows that have been affected by the wave of delays.
Considering how long fans have been waiting for it though, waiting for three more months until July shouldn’t be a major issue.
While Masamune-kun’s Revenge R will begin in July 2023, there’s no word yet on a specific release date.
Though it is confirmed to release on Crunchyroll in several countries.
