Charles pulls out his weapon, the G Warstaff. While trying to attack Hakari, he quotes something from Hoshino Katsura, the creator of D.Gray-man.
He says manga creators move to a fictional place in their heads because reality isn't satisfying enough. However, Charles' reality now involves jujutsu, causing him to lose his drive as a manga creator and reader.
Charles scratches Hakari's cheek with the tip of his pen. Hakari asks if it's even okay for a manga creator to use their pen for violence. Charles mentions Ozora Tsubasa from Captain Tsubasa and how he hurt Kanda's head with a kick.
Charles' condition for the ink has been accomplished, and he throws something on Hakari's chest. Hakari jumps over him, and the two gain some distance between each other.
Charles explains there's a manga panel on Hakari, but it's a few panels ahead into the future. He can see one second in advance, and as they continue to battle, Charles will see more into the future as his weapon fills more ink.
Hakari moves fast, which Charles acknowledges. Hakari confirms that Charles can really see forward in time, so he attacks his blind spots.
Hakari hits Charles, and Charles says Hakari's cursed energy is rough and hurts as if it's sandpaper. The two exchange more hits. Hakari states he can go easy on Charles, but it wouldn't be ideal considering Charles' way of thinking.
As the fight continues, Charles can now see two seconds into the future. Hakari activates his Domain Expansion, which was shown in Charles' brain.
