Jim Lee Addresses Dan DiDio's Exit, Shoots Down Rumors of DC Comics Closing Down

Fans of DC Comics were in for quite the shock last week as Dan DiDio was relieved of his duties as co-publisher by Warner Bros, leaving Jim Lee as the sole publisher for the comic company. DiDio was a controversial figure, not allowing characters to get married since it would "ruin the narrative" but he also helped a number of creators get their acclaimed workout, from Tom King's Mister Miracle to Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's Batman. Now that Lee has more responsibilities, what can we expect?

During C2E2 (via Newsarama), Lee admitted that he has more responsibility now and is looking forward to the move. Elaborating on the point, he said "There's continually new things going on, and I look at being sole publisher now and the team I'm working with. Much more in trenches now than ever before."

Without naming anyone - *cough*Ethan Van Sciver*cough*Rob Liefeld*cough* - Lee also addressed how DC Comics has been around for 85 years and will be around for 85 more. That's probably the best way he could have handled those pathetic rumors without looking too petty, though most of us would have indulged him.

"To address some of the stuff that is out there, there's rumors... speculation. I wouldn't put any credence into it. DC has been around for 85 years, and we'll be around for another 85 years. I hope to be doing this panel in 85 years."

Admittedly, things have been pretty hectic for DC Comics but fans do have reasons to be optimistic about the future. Whether it be that upcoming 5G relaunch or whatever happens next, we hope there are only good things coming from DC.
