James Gunn's Suicide Squad 2 Gets Working Title

James Gunn is certainly moving forward with Suicide Squad 2. A new report reveals the sequel's working title and it could hint at what the new team will be up to in the DC Extended Universe flick.

The list of new working titles was released by Production Weekly. The sequel, which is listed as The Suicide Squad, has been given the working title El Dorado.

So what exactly could this mean? There are speculations that Gunn had chosen the name because of the myth behind it. The Spanish legend tells of a mythical South American city filled with riches. An older version reveals it is actually a tribal chief who would cover himself in gold dust. In line with this, Suicide Squad 2 could either send the new team on a mission to find a huge MacGuffin or go up against a terrifying villain. However, this is still based on theory so it's best to take it with a grain of salt.

It was previously reported that Suicide Squad 2 will feature a completely new line up. Gunn is reportedly bringing in characters like King Shark, Ratcatcher, Polka-Dot Man, and Peacemaker. In addition to that, the former Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director might recast Deadshot now that Will Smith has vacated the role. Interestingly, there are reports that Gunn has his eye on Thor: Ragnarok star Idris Elba to take over.

It's also been reported that Margot Robbie might have a minor cameo as Harley Quinn in the sequel but this has not yet been confirmed. For now, we know that Robbie is still working on Birds of Prey.

Suicide Squad 2 is currently scheduled for release on August 6, 2021.
