James Gunn Explains Superman in the ICU Reveal in The Suicide Squad Trailer

If you have seen the awesome new trailer for The Suicide Squad, chances are you were mystified by a comment in the teaser. Early on, Amanda Waller reveals that Robert Dubois was imprisoned for "putting Superman in the ICU with a kryptonite bullet."

Not surprisingly, that little detail already has fans freaking out considering that Superman is virtually indestructible. Interestingly, James Gunn has addressed the issue in a hilarious new tweet.

A fan recently reached out to Gunn wondering if Superman will manage to survive his stay in the ICU. The filmmaker only had a cryptic response.

"Perhaps with one less spleen than he had before but yes I think so," Gunn wrote.

We're not sure if Superman even has a spleen (we're not familiar with alien anatomy) but we're hoping that the kryptonite bullet didn't cause too much damage. After all, we're still hoping that the Man of Steel will be back in more DC Extended Universe films. In the meantime, fans can rest assured that Superman will recover.

The Suicide Squad stars Idris Elba as Robert Dubois aka Bloodsport, the man who had shot Superman with a kryptonite bullet. It also features Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, John Cena as Peacemaker, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Sylvester Stallone as King Shark, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Peter Capaldi as The Thinker, and so much more.

The Suicide Squad is scheduled for release in limited theaters and on HBO Max on August 6, 2021.
