James Gunn Confirms The Suicide Squad Film Wrap With Emotional Message

That's a wrap for The Suicide Squad! James Gunn confirmed that filming for the DC Extended Universe flick is finally done and although it's a time for celebration, the filmmaker also reflected on everything that happened while he was working on the movie. Sadly, Gunn's message was emotional as he revealed that he had lost two loved ones throughout the production.

Gunn took to his official Instagram account to announce the production wrap along with some cool photos of the cast and crew. However, the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director added a bittersweet caption. Take a look at his post below.

"And that's a wrap on #TheSuicideSquad. My father died two weeks before we started filming and my dog died two weeks before the end. It was a hard, hard time in my life and yet the most fulfilling time I've ever had making a movie. The professionalism, talent, compassion and kindness of this cast and crew inspired me every day. Thanks to everyone involved in this film, in every stage of development, in every department - I am grateful from the bottom of my heart for you all. You are why I make movies," Gunn wrote.

It's sad to know that the filmmaker went through a lot of heartbreaks while working on the upcoming movie. Nevertheless, it is great to see that he remains strong and has the support of his cast and crew. Gunn's message makes us look forward to the new Warner Bros. film.

The Suicide Squad is scheduled for release on August 6, 2021.
