Hugh Jackman revealed that he almost wore a comic-accurate Wolverine costume when he played his iconic character during the Fox era.

A lot of fans have been looking forward to the release of Deadpool and Wolverine not only because of Jackman's return as Wolverine, but he will also finally wear a comic-accurate costume for the first time.

Throughout the actor's 24-year tenure in the role, he has never worn the iconic yellow-and-blue Wolverine costume and fans have been clamoring to see him wear it at some point in live-action.

Hugh Jackman Almost Had a Comic-Accurate Costume in The Wolverine

In an interview, Jackman revealed that he almost wore a comic-accurate Wolverine costume in the 2013 film The Wolverine.

He also discussed his excitement about wearing the comic-accurate Wolverine costume for the first time and how it felt right to do it.

"We almost did it in The Wolverine. But from the moment I put it on here, I was like, ‘How did we never do this?’ It looked so right, it felt so right. I was like, ‘That’s him,’" he said.

"There are different sides of Wolverine we haven’t seen before in the movies. It was exciting for me. It’s great for Deadpool to have someone who will punch him in the face."

While it would have been great to see Jackman wear the comic-accurate costume on the big screen earlier, it is exciting to see that he is finally wearing it in the upcoming film as a prominent costume.

It is a long time coming for both Jackman and the fans and it also poses the question of why the comic-accurate costume was never considered to be a key part in any of the Fox movies.

Now, fans are looking forward to the first sneak peek of Wolverine's cowl, which is still not featured in any of the trailers that have been released so far.

Deadpool and Wolverine is set to arrive in theaters on July 26.
