Gerard Way's Doom Patrol Comic Returns, Along With His Young Animal DC Imprint


DC's Young Animal line was an interesting experiment from the company as it let a number of creators work on some weird comic book titles. Obviously, one of the more important titles came from Umbrella Academy writer Gerard Way, who worked on a well-liked Doom Patrol run. The publishing line came to a temporary end, with promises to return, and it looks like that promise was fulfilled.

Starting this July, the My Chemical Romance frontman will be bringing back this weird line of comics, including a new Doom Patrol comic called Doom Patrol: Weight of the Worlds. Fans have wanted a proper followup to the series for quite some time, though we can only hope that those readers are ready for a ton of delays.

There's also a new Green Lantern series called Far Sector, which comes out in late 2019, and an original series called Collapser.

DC's Young Animal is returning this July with the next chapter of its flagship title, plus two new, innovative stories. The pop-up imprint curated by My Chemical Romance front man Gerard Way will kick things off on July 3 withDOOM PATROL: WEIGHT OF THE WORLDS, followed byCOLLAPSERon July 17 andFAR SECTORin late 2019.
With these new series come new creative teams, with Mikey Way (MCR), Shaun Simon (Neverboy,Killjoys) and acclaimed artist Ilias Kyriazis (G.I. Joe: First Strike) introducing COLLAPSER, and author N.K. Jemisin (The Broken Earth,Inheritancetrilogies) making her comic book writing debut with FAR SECTOR, a new and original Green Lantern story, alongside Jamal Campbell, artist of the breakout hit series, NAOMI. The next phase of Gerard Way's DOOM PATROL will team him up once again with Nick Derington for covers, with interior stories illustrated by a series of amazing artists beginning with James Harvey, followed by Doc Shaner, Nick Pitarra, Becky Cloonan and more.
