On Friday, Toei Animation announced that Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the latest feature film in the Dragon Ball Super franchise, has been postponed due to the Toei Animation hack. The studio apologized to fans who were looking forward to the movie's April release date.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was originally set to release in theaters in Japan on April 22, 2022, and it was slated to open in North American theaters this summer. The anime movie's release schedule may differ depending on each country and region.

On March 6, 2022, an unauthorized third-party tried hacking the studio's internal systems; As a result, Toei's online store and internal systems temporarily shut down as a safety measure. The hack in the studio caused the delay of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero's release despite being seemingly unaffected at first.

The Toei Animation hack allegedly only affect upcoming episodes of One Piece, Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai, Delicious Party: Pretty Cure, and Digimon Ghost Game.

However, the statement Toei issued today confirmed that they would have to push the release date of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero due to the incident.

As its title suggests, the movie will have a focus on the "superhero" aspect, and the story will put Son Gohan front and center while Goku and Vegeta are dealing with other matters outside of Earth. Series creator Akira Toriyama was in charge of character design and screenplay.
