Lots of upcoming shows got release date announcements over the weekend. One of these is Banished from the Hero's Party Season 2, which finally got a release date reveal.

It may have taken a while, but finally, this fantasy series from nearly two years ago got a release date announcement. Best of all, fans won’t have to wait that long as it is set to release this January.

The second season’s release date was revealed alongside the release of a new trailer, which showed off brand-new footage featuring its main cast.

Officially titled Banished from the Hero's Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside, this anime is surprisingly not an isekai despite its long title.

Instead, the series is a fantasy slice-of-life anime that follows Red, a former adventurer whose real name is Gideon Ragnason. Previously, he was part of the Hero’s Party that was led by his sister, Ruti.

This Hero’s Party’s goal is to save the world from the evil Demon Lord. But Red left the Party in the past as he was considered deadweight by one of the other members.

The show’s first season aired in Fall 21, and it was co-produced by Wolfsbane (of Peter Grill and the Philosopher's Time fame) and Studio Flad (best known for Dame x Prince).

Back in October 2022, it was revealed that the anime’s second season was finally greenlit. It took over a year before a release date was confirmed.

Finally, details about the second season were shared recently, alongside a new trailer. The series features returning staff members, though Studio Flad is the sole animation studio working on the new season.

Despite only one studio coming back, the show’s look didn’t seem to have changed much. At least, that’s based on the footage from the new trailer, which you can watch here:

Along with returning staff members, the first season’s voice cast is also returning for Season 2.

These include Kanon Takao (Hermit Mio in Edens Zero) as Rit, Ryota Suzuki (Yu Ishigami in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War) as Red, and Naomi Oozora (Hana Uzaki in Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!) as Ruti.

Banished from the Hero's Party Season 2 will be released in January 2024. There’s no word yet on a specific release date.
