Election Day is kicking off in the United States today and celebrities and other influential people are making their last-minute pleads to Americans to go out and exercise their right to vote. Avengers stars like Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, and Star Wars icon Mark Hamill have been pretty vocal and consistent over the last couple of weeks, educating people about the importance of casting their votes and choosing the right political candidate to root for.

Now, Arrow star Stephen Amell is joining the brigade and although he isn't exactly a US citizen as he is from Canada, he sure knows how important it is that people exercise their right to vote. In a recent tweet, Amell said that he wishes he could've spent more time in the US to apply for citizenship. "I really wish I could vote tomorrow, but I haven't spent enough time in the US to apply for citizenship," Amell wrote.

He also threatens people that he'll come out of his Green Arrow retirement to go after them if they don't vote. "That's a roundabout way of saying that if you don't go out and vote tomorrow I'll pop on an old Green Arrow suit, find you and break at least three of your fingers." Of course, nobody would want to be on the receiving end of Oliver Queen's wrath. Check out Amell's tweet below:

It's great to see how a guy like Stephen Amell continues to embody the values and principles of his superhero persona off camera and his stand regarding the matter is pretty admirable considering it doesn't exactly concern him since he's from a different country. It isn't too surprising when you think about it though because after all, his DC character Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow is no stranger to politics and spearheading change. Good on ya, Stephen!

Arrow wrapped up its successful run earlier this year.
